Randal W. Spencer, President & CEO
Randy is an entrepreneurial executive with a talent for attracting and developing highly talented managers and advisors.  With early experience designing management information systems across a broad range on industries, he became particularly interested in the process by which companies could reinvent themselves around key components of their core technologies.

Randy has led Concordia to develop a global reputation as an innovator in the application of textile technology to non-textile fields. He has been responsible for Concordia's development of several patents.  His ability to understand a client's strategic goals has driven Concordia to develop a range of complex technical products for many of America's best companies.   From new tennis racquets to advanced aerospace composites to biomedical products, Randy produces innovative design and manufacturing solutions. Relationships that Randy has developed with industry leading companies in the fiber handling business have been instrumental in allowing Concordia to execute on a number of high value acquisitions. Randy joined Concordia in 1984, and has been CEO since 1993.

A graduate of Middlebury College with master’s degrees from the University of Chicago and the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, Randy worked for several years for Deloitte Touche as a management consultant in New York City.   Randy is a member of the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering, the American Society for Quality, the Industrial Fabrics Association, and the Society for Biomaterials.

Art Burghouwt, Executive Vice President Medical
Art has over 20 years of medical device experience in various leadership positions in sales, marketing, business development, operations, engineering, and general management. He was most recently Vice President and General Manager of Teleflex Medical’s OEM Specialties business, and prior to that he was with Genzyme Biosurgery, where he was Vice President, International for the Cardiothoracic Device business and previously Sr. Director of Sales & Marketing for the OEM business. Art held leadership positions in operations and engineering for Deknatel and Davis & Geck. Art is very familiar with absorbable polymers, biomaterials, sutures and fibers, and all aspects of medical device design & development, manufacturing, sales & marketing, and distribution. He has experience with a wide variety of device technologies and applications, especially in the cardiovascular and orthopedic surgery markets. Art holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Bucknell University and an MBA from the University of Connecticut.

Paul Boghossian, Director

Paul had been actively involved in the day-to-day operation of Concordia until the late 90s.  He is now focused on numerous large-scale real estate development projects throughout New England.  Many of these projects focus on rehabilitating and converting historic properties into upscale mixed-use developments.  Paul is also founder and Chairman of the Manufacturers Comp Group of RI, a workers compensation self insurance group.  Paul has a B.A. from Colby College and earned an MBA from the University of Rhode Island.

David Staples, Director
David is a founder and Managing Director of a private equity group based in the Caribbean. The group focuses on large-scale desalination plants, wastewater treatment and real estate development. David’s background is in engineering and finance. He earned a BA at UC San Diego and a Masters from Washington University as well as a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard.

David Boghossian, Director
David is a founder of PowerSteering Software, Inc, a Cambridge, MA, enterprise software company focused on cross-enterprise performance improvement and program management. David has over 20 years of experience in the fields of Performance Improvement, Operations Excellence, and Strategy Execution, where he has focused on using innovative tools to drive improved business results, accelerate innovation, and deliver more focused strategic information to decision makers. David holds AB and MPA degrees from Harvard University.

Robert Valentini, Director and Chair of Scientific Advisory Board
Robert Valentini is president, CEO, and founder of Myomics, Inc., a Providence, RI start-up company that is discovering and developing drugs for neuromuscular diseases. He was previously Program Executive at Shire HGT, where he was responsible for Replagal, a $100-million enzyme replacement therapy approved in 34 countries. As a co-founder, Director and COO of Cell Based Delivery, a biotechnology company that developed innovative products to treat hemophilia, anemia, and cardiovascular disease, Dr. Valentini raised over $11 million in venture capital financing. Valentini was formerly professor of medical science at Brown University, where he focused on biomaterials, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. He obtained his Sc.B., Ph.D., and M.D. degrees from Brown.

Richard Horan, Advisor
Rich is Senior Managing Director of the Slater Technology Fund, a Rhode Island state funded venture capital fund that focuses on life sciences and technology companies. The Slater Technology Fund is an investor in Concordia. Rich has worked in investment banking and the venture capital markets with a focus on biotech and life sciences. He has also served as CEO of a number of his portfolio venture backed companies. Rich was recently named “one of those most responsible for shaping the future of Life Sciences in New England” by the Convergence Guide. Rich received his A.B. from Dartmouth College in 1976 and an M.B.A. from the Tuck School at Dartmouth in 1980.

David Kellogg, Advisor
David is President of Kellogg Associates, which provides financial advisory services to companies throughout New England. Dave has put together multiple financings for Concordia since 2002, and also provides part-time CFO services to the company. Before founding Kellogg Associates in 2000, he was an executive with Fleet Financial Group. Dave received an A.B. degree in economics from Brown University in 1983.

William Reed, Advisor
Bill is a partner of School Street Capital Group, an investment banking firm that advises privately owned companies. Bill has been an executive at W. L. Gore and Associates, Inc., where he established new uses and markets for GORE-TEX® fabric. Earlier he was an investment banker with Drexel, Harriman, Ripley & Co. and then Girard Bank, working primarily with the owners of private companies on financings, mergers and acquisitions, valuations, and financial advisory assignments. Mr. Reed is a graduate of Princeton University and holds an MBA from Stanford University.
